We act according to what we believe is right, not according to what is easy, comfortable, or expected by others. We deliver on what we promised, we are consistent and we pay the price to defend our ideals. We are tenacious and courageous for what we believe in.
We believe in justice (despite the usual manipulation of this word), understood as avoiding artificial inequality of opportunities, treating everyone fairly and rewarding merit and talent.
We defend meritocracy against tyranny or demagoguery; healthy ambition with values, well-directed effort and reward according to contribution. We do not confuse the solidarity, collaboration, or diversity needed in any society with parasitism or limiting egalitarianism.
We approach problems with responsibility (ability to respond), rather than from guilt. We use our strength and influence for good. As Spiderman said: “with great power comes great responsibility.” We try to leave the world better than we found it; it is a loan from our children, not an inheritance from our parents.
